Events happening the week of August 31-Sept. 7
- The Silver City Public Library will be hosting a Tabletop RPG meeting on September 2 for anyone interested in forming groups to play storytelling games. The meeting will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. and is open to the public.
- Silver Consolidated Schools will be having a Community Discussion and Information Meeting on September 3 regarding the “Turf Field Project”. The discussion will take place at 6 p.m. at Silver High School’s Little Theater. Community members will be able to ask questions and provide input on the project.
- The Village of Santa Clara will be having “Music in the Park” September 4 with music by the Illusion Band. The music will take place at 6p.m. at Viola Stone Park.
- The Grant County Rolling Stones Gem and Mineral Society will be having a Gem and Mineral Show on September 4-6 with crystals, fossils, local turquoise and more. The event will take place each day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business and Conference Center.
Youth Events
- The Silver City Public Library will be having “Babytime” on September 1 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. They will have stories, songs and fun geared to ages 0 to 24 months and their caregivers.

General Events
- Cobre Consolidated Schools has opened a Parent Center to provide support services for families in need, offering access to clothing, hygiene products, food, computer resources, and more. The center is open Monday through Friday from 3 to 4 p.m. and is located next to Bayard Elementary School. For additional information, families may contact 575-537-4010.
- Corre Caminos has launched its “Ride for Free” program on fixed routes serving both Silver City and the Copper District. The expanded service provides convenient stops throughout town with access to popular local businesses and destinations, while the Copper route connects riders from Hurley, Bayard, Santa Clara and Arenas Valley. - Silver Regional Sexual Assault Support Services are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. They offer free and confidential services like legal accompaniment, counseling, crisis intervention, public education and outreach and so much more. For more information call 575-313-6203.
- The Silver City Public Library will host an Open Technology Lab on the first Tuesday of each month from 3 to 5 p.m. at the library, 515 W. College Ave. The free session offers community members assistance with a wide range of technology and computer-related questions.
- Valley Community Church located at 19 Racetrack Road in Arenas Valley offers free pet food to all types of animals every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 11 to 1 p.m. For more information, call (575) 538-9311.
Ongoing Youth Events & Services
- Big Brothers Big Sisters program seeks to create mentoring relationships and support youth throughout Grant County. Their unique one-to-one mentoring helps children achieve success in school, avoid risky behaviors and improves their self-confidence. For more information on how to get involved, call 575-449-2728.
- Southwest Adolescent Group (SWAG) seeks to enrich the lives of adolescents in the Grant County area. SWAG creates and implements safe, community-based programs. These programs are available for teens between the ages of 13-17 years old. For more information, stop by 875 Silver Heights Blvd.
- The HVLBM Recreation Center in Silver City has free events for children of all ages to enjoy. Every Wednesday they have board games from 10 to 1 p.m. and Community Volleyball for children 13 and up from 5 to 8 p.m. For more information, call 575-388-5436.
- The Silver City Public Library offers “Babytime” every Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. Babytime is geared towards children 0 to 24 months old and provides stories, songs, rhymes and social time.
Veterans Events
- Silver City Veteran Clinic provides primary care and specialty health services to veterans in need. Some of the services provided are dermatology, social work, behavioral health, COVID vaccines and more. For more information, call 575-538-2921.
- The Silver City Veteran Service Center Office assists Veterans and their dependents with preparing claims for benefits that they may be entitled to. The office is located at 409 West College and open to all veterans. For more information call 575-538-2377.
- The Rural Veterans Transportation Program provides medical transportation to veterans in Grant County. The program provides free round-trip rides to veterans to and from their home and any U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or VA-approved medical appointment. Veterans interested in using this service must make reservations for these free round trip rides at least 3 days in advance of a medical appointment.
